You may be limited from the bank, as my first guess would indeed be that they would move out to the deeper holes as the summer temps rise and the water falls. I have never fished for spots in a river, so I'm not 100% sure how they behave. In the lake I fish, they are either cruising around other baitfish/predators or sitting on deep ledges for most of the summer. I rarely fish for them in less than 20ft of water. The largemouth are often lazing about in shaded areas or creek channel with some cooler water.

Jesse,
We don't have a discount for Tackle Warehouse at the moment. We do have the Rapala VIP program, which is a benefit of being a member and saves you up to 40% off Rapala/VMC/Storm/Blue Fox/Sufix/Terminator and more. The directions for getting setup with that program are at https://bassu.tv/special-offers
This is also where we post Tackle Warehouse discounts (and other offers), when they are available. Also, keep your eye on the newsletter, as we usually send one for special discount offers.

Topic: Topo maps

Where the lines on the topo map are close together. That's where the depth changes the most quickly. On impoundments where I live, they are often near the original river channel. As many BU instructors point out, the ledges don't have to be huge to hold bass.

The reason the instructors mention it is because there is an on-site discount for students at the in-class training. We are working with Tackle Warehouse to provide more discounts to our online students.

I haven't used them, but EnChroma makes tinted glasses that are supposed to help people with color blindness see colors more accurately. I warn you though, they aren't cheap. There's also a company called Pilestone that makes a well-reviewed product on Amazon, specifically for red-green color blindness. https://www.amazon.com/Pilestone-Glasses-TP-025-Titanium-Outdoor/dp/B07G85QWND/ref=sr_1_4?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItua2k8GC5AIVd__jBx0tmwdEEAAYAiAAEgK-5PD_BwE&hvadid=174241361191&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9009901&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t2&hvqmt=e&hvrand=8807850104287759292&hvtargid=kwd-58185371195&hydadcr=24659_9648993&keywords=enchroma+glasses&qid=1565790908&s=gateway&sr=8-4

I typically only carry 1 of a technique-specific rod. On the other hand, I find that most of my spinning tackle can be multi-purpose, so I have 3-4 rods that can be fish a dropshot/ned rig/neko rig/finesse swimbait, etc. If you throw a lot of a certain bait (jigs/crankbaits, for example), you might want 2-3 rods dedicated to that technique, just to save time cutting off and retying different colors/weights/sizes.

In the summer where I live, I rip a jig up off the bottom aggressively. I hold the rod at the reel seat with one hand and push down on the butt of the rod with the other hand. I believe Gerald Swindle does this with a flutter spoon in this video https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/gerald-swindles-summer-ledge-fishing-techniques this is exactly how I fish a jig in the summer. I'll try different weights, but whatever gets through the grass and gets bites.

I think it depends on if conditions change. The most important thing would be to have a backup plan, no matter what. The food source might move, light penetration may be different on tournament morning than when you caught them at noon in practice, wind, water clarity, water temp, etc. might all be different. I think a prevailing thought among top anglers is that offshore fish are more reliable.

I use green LED lights around the bumper on the boat. It doesn't seem to attract bugs as much. Otherwise, I catch a most of my nighttime bass in/near traditional summer places. Often on top of shallow humps/points near deep water. I tend to fish more power fishing techniques at night, particularly crankbaits and buzzbaits, especially at dusk or right after dark. Don't be afraid to use finesse techniques though, particularly if you're still marking fish in deeper water. I've caught many bass at night in 20ft+ using finesse techniques (particularly dropshotting). I've had success fishing bridge pilings as well. My favorite spot to fish at night in the summer on Lake Norman is a deep secondary point where two creeks come together.

Historically, we have had at least 4 locations per year. At the moment, these are the finalized locations. What we do know is that each location will have 6 speakers over 2 days. Each speaker will make 2 presentations per day (usually about 45 minutes each, unless it's Carl Jocumsen, who may have 1 hour and 30 minutes of information to share). Usually, each day has 3 seminars before lunch and 3 after. So, a total of 12 seminars over 2 days. We have tickets for individual days, or both days. What we don't know, at the moment, is who the presenters will be and the topics they will cover.

Remember, part of getting the early bird special ( available through Sept with code EARLY25 at https://thebassuniversity.com/class-training ) is that we don't have our anglers finalized yet, but if you look at our history, we usually have big names with decades of fishing knowledge to share. So, many people end up kicking themselves for not taking the 25% early discount and waiting to see who the anglers are, then we wind up booking someone like Gerald Swindle, Mike Iaconelli, Edwin Evers or Bryan Thrift and they pay full price. Again, I can't make any guarantee about who will be at each location this year, but we've never had a student disappointed with the quality of our instructors.

Off the top of my head, I know the moon affects the spawn and the tide. Hopefully Pete will chime in with any other information on how moon phases affect bass fishing.

Saw that Tackle Warehouse has a couple of 13 reels on closeout

September 9, 2019 01:30:22 PM

Jason,
Our production was slightly disrupted this week, as our production team jumped on a chance to film some future content. We plan to catch up on the missed content shortly. The videos that are due are Aaron Martens on designing hardbaits, I believe and Bryan Thrift on fishing docks. Thank you for your patience, these videos will be up as soon as everyone is back from the filming.

We've not released any information about speakers yet. When we finalize all 6, we will announce the instructors (this usually happens in November, but it all depends on when anglers can make commitments). Be sure to consider though, by that time, there will no longer be the 25% early bird discount.

Thanks for letting us know, Eric. They are very versatile boxes and we're happy to be partnered with Flambeau to make them available to our customers. We are about to post a winter discount for Flambeau in the next couple of days, so keep an eye out for it.

Lots of anglers who are serious about efficiency say you will get more casts in and if you don't have to change hands. JT Kenney makes the point to let your "dumb hand" handle the reel, which is just turning the handle, and let the "smart hand" play the fish with the rod. I hope this helps.

Student tickets are already discounted, in addition the way we handle group discounts is that everyone in the group needs to register together the morning of the event and we will refund a specified amount to each ticket holder (groups of 5 or more only).
Don't forget that EARLY25 gets you 25% off the already discounted price, but that promo code ends VERY SOON, so you'll want to act fast.

If you would like to switch to the this deal please email me using our contact form at https://bassu.tv/contact
We can change the subscription plan so that you are billed the $99 on your next renewal date (allowing you to enjoy whatever subscription time you've already paid for).
Biil2e, I'm emailing you now to get authorization for me to make this account change.

I use glass when I don't need a fast action rod to work the bait and/or I want to ensure I don't pull the bait away from the bass and/or I need a softer tip because I'm using a no-stretch line:
For example, I almost always fish a glass rod when I fishing a crankbait. Sometimes I fish a chatterbait on a glass rod, particularly when fishing a no-stretch line.

We're looking into this, but we are currently engaged in developing for other platforms.

December 17, 2019 10:36:19 AM

I'm not able to speak to that point, at the moment, as we are early in development and uncertain that specific platforms will come to fruition, or if what we discover in the specification process moves us toward other platforms.

There are a couple of good videos on doing this. Wesley Strader's video is probably the most comprehensive. https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/how-to-skip-various-baits-under-docks-wesley-strader
I use a 7' rod that has a little give on the tip. The big key to success for me is the timing of lifting the rod and knowing exactly when to stop the spool. The rod lift changed the game for me. I'm not the best, but I can skip several baits now with a baitcaster. I like to skip the chunks the best because they're flat. I feel like things with appendages get more water resistance and more likely to stop in the water instead of skip. Others may disagree.

You can also use silica gel packets (often found in shoe boxes, etc) to help.
