Jason Admin : Fishing Forum Posts

Josh,
We are working on this, and I think the latest 2D Sonar Electronics on the water class with Pete Gluszek demonstrates that we are headed in this direction. We appreciate your patronage, and I believe you'll see a lot more of what you're talking about being executed in future videos.

Johan,
Thanks for watching! At the moment, we aren't able to schedule shows well in advance, since we are working around the schedule of the pros. Our next show is scheduled for Jan 14th at 7PM ET, I believe. You should receive a newsletter confirming the time. We hope you are able to tune in, as I believe we will have several special guest and we will be highlighting some happenings from this coming weekend's in-class training.

The larger your line diameter, the more your speed increases as you retrieve your lure. The retrieve speed on a long cast with a large diameter line can easily be 10-20% faster by the time it's back to the boat than at the end of the cast. Consequently, the larger the diameter the line the larger the speed variation, and you'll experience an initial slower retrieve the longer the cast (as you've decreased the circumference of the spool).

Steven, thanks for discussing this. We will make a note to ask the instructors to provide as many visuals in their presentation as possible. Yes, the John Crews video is good. Pete also did one recently on 2d sonar/gps waypoints. Some instructors choose to use map screenshots in their slide presentations and some choose not. There are some seasonal seminars where the instructors have done what you describe. Also, if you haven't seen it, there's a "Download Presentation Slides" button below each seminar, which sometimes contain the information you're requesting.

Topic: App plans?

Anything is possible, but, at the moment, our mobile-friendly website does anything an app would. Additionally, our service does not provide any offline features, so an app wouldn't provide any additional functionality. On android, you should receive a pop-up asking if you want to install to home screen. On Apple, you can "Add to Home Screen" using the share button (it's the box with an up arrow, in the top right corner of the browser) (not sure how that makes sense, but that's how it's done)(Also, you may have to horizontally scroll the list at the bottom of the menu to get to "Add to Home Screen".

This is the first that I've heard of Kodi, I'd guess no. If your computer is attached to your home theater, could you just use a browser and full screen the video? It's more likely we would look into Roku, where the user is more abstracted from the website.

Topic: MARK ZONA

We plan on posting it today. We're sorry for the delay.

Ray, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've tracked down the remaining content (parts 4 &5) and added it to the seminar.

Thanks for you question. Honestly, we usually don't know ourselves. We often work with the guest angler's sponsors to put together prize packs, so with Jared Lintner that may be Tackle Warehouse, Jackall, or any of his other sponsors. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get the products into the warehouse for us to ship them. Thanks for watching the live show!

We will also look into this. To-date, I believe that all the seminars have been conducted in the BASS/FLW offseason, so for any existing seminar, it's safe to assume that they are in or very near January/February. I'd estimate that 80% of our current seminars were recorded in January. For location, while this is not the most convenient, there is a way to know where they are. If you click on the "Buy Tackle in This Seminar" blue button under the video, the seminar shop pages were setup for the event, so they show the location. We will try to remember to provide this information moving forward.

One of the pros will probably have better answers to this shortly. I've personally never thrown a diving crankbait on braid, it floats, so I don't think it's usually a top choice. I think lots of anglers like it for topwater and soft plastics. I know a lot of anglers use a fluorocarbon leader when fishing more finesse soft plastics. I personally keep a 100yd spool of spiderwire fluoro for making leaders, it's pretty cost-effective. Berkley also has a new 100% fluorocarbon at an affordable price, which would probably last all year or more, if you're making leaders with it.

Denis,
We have seasonal promotions. We try to offer something to each new subscriber, there are a couple of times, like when you signed up, when we are not offering something (free neck gaiter, 10 days free, etc). These are basically incentives to get reluctant people to try the product to see that it's a good quality. That way a customer can say, "Ok, even if the videos aren't what I expect, I get a free neck gaiter". Of course, most customers realize the quality of the content and are happy they signed up, they just need that extra boost to get started. Never fear, we are also working on a rewards program that will account for a customer's loyalty to our institution.

Chad,
We looked into the costing for closed captioning and for the lengths of our videos, it was cost prohibitive for us to offer. So, at the moment, we do not have closed captioning available. We will continue to look into options to make this available.

Jim,
Often the shows come together quickly (often the same day) as pros are available before or after tournaments. We try to send newsletters and phone notifications (these currently don't work on Apple products) so keep an eye out for these.

I live near Lake Norman and I find that spotted bass "roam" a lot more. They usually aren't as tight to cover and are more willing to follow their food source. My wife and I also fish for crappie, white perch and striped bass, and we often also catch spotted bass, once we find the bait that attracts these other species.

It's not all about the line. The drag on the reel and action of the rod have a lot to do with this. I fish a clear lake often and have certainly seen the difference of using lighter line, particularly on soft plastics and finesse techniques. I will fish swimbaits on 14lb fluorocarbon, but small soft plastics I use a max of 8lb. I also use a 7ft. medium action rod (for casting distance and soft tip) and a spinning reel with a quality drag system. I'm not a pro, so I don't back reel or anything fancy like that, but here's the other key, use light wire hooks when fishing lighter line. You don't need a 6/0 Trokar big nasty hook for a 4" finesse worm, and you don't need to jack 'em like you're using a big hook either. A LOT of people overset the hook. I catch bass with jaws ripped open from braided line often, and this is just unnecessary. Longer, better rods, line with less stretch, sharper/thinner diameter hooks, etc mean you don't have to set the hook like Roland Martin did back in 1983 with his 5ft 5in. pistol grip and 40% stretch mono. Lastly, to your point about snagging a lake record, it's true, you won't be able to horse a record to the boat and flip them in the boat, but many anglers will tell you, they caught their biggest bass on finesse techniques and light line, so getting the bite in the first place is the first step to catching that big bass. Once they're on, be patient, control the fish and don't give them too much slack. Let the rod do the work until they're ready to be lipped/netted.

Topic: Lure Colors

Most anglers in our seminars reference black and blue as their go-to muddy water color. So, that's certainly a good starting place.

Adam, at the moment this is one of the "Periodic" offers, so we do not currently have a Tackle Warehouse discount available, but that is subject to change at any time.

April 10, 2019 01:16:42 PM

Grant, we do not usually begin finalizing in class training locations until around August. Keep your eyes on your newsletter though, as we usually offer some early registration discounts shortly after announcing a location and opening the ticket purchasing window.

Derek,
He doesn't say, it may be a custom mold. I'll see if I can find out. I've used the Do-it shake-it mold, which will take a mustad hook, but by spec, it accepts the flat-eye hook. Interestingly, it will also take other 90 degree hooks. It's possible he's just fitting the long shank hooks into this mold. I've gotten several hooks to fit, including some cheap easy bend bronze Eagle Claw hooks for making crappie jigheads.
