Seagaur has a new value line out called Seagaur Basix that's about $10/200yds. I'm curious about the quality, 2 good reviews so far on Tackle Warehouse. If price is the barrier, that's certainly better than the $30+ per spool brands.

Topic: Updated app

We were unsure if this was a feature that people liked. Other services (Netflix, Hulu, Roku, etc) have removed this from their services, and we mostly followed the leader. We'll look into adding this functionality back to the site in the next update.

Topic: New Rods

The Cashion rods are great, but sounds like they are a bit above your budget if you're looking at $200 combos.
The Revo X spinning reels are Brandon Cobb's favorite, at $120 with a 6.2:1 gear ratio, they will pick up some line quickly.

These Zata combos (7' & 7'3" MH) may be a 1-stop shop at $209 (the reels retail for $189)

This Revo S combo is also a good all-around 7' MH baitcaster in your budget

I'm not sure about the mhz portion, but I am unable to see small cover like small stumps or isolated rocks on my 10" Helix at more than 75ft.

Coming from the exact same background the biggest adjustment I had to make was not pound one place to produce a bite the way I would on a pond that has limited bass hangouts. My first recommendation that you may not be getting from the videos explicitly (but almost all the pros recommend it) is to cover water and look for a reaction bite. While you may have 4-5 sure-fire spots that produce a bite on a pond every trip, the fish population is much larger in a big reservoir, and the water volume is exponentially larger. As a result, there is a lot of dead water, but when you find where the fish are on a given day, there may be more fish in a single area than in the whole pond you're used to fishing. Electronics can help find baitfish, and predators are usually nearby. Again, coming from ponds, I would fish 1 area for an hour or more without a bite. Now, I keep moving and trying different baits until I find something or at least have a fish show themselves. Once you catch a fish, you may be able to determine other similar areas that might have fish that day. I hope this helps.

At this time, I don't foresee a return of the downloadable presentation slides. Our production team now edits them into the videos. Management may change course on this, but as far as I can tell, at the moment, we're moving away from downloadable presentations.

Our production team decided that the visibility wasn't up to our quality standards and have pulled the video until they can refilm it with better visibility materials. In short, Pete and the production team need a day together to reshoot the knot tying before we put it back up.

Thanks for checking in on this. This feature is still in development. The default behavior for devices is to mute app audio when the screen is turned off. In fact, some OS updates will break apps that do this because of the battery/background activity settings. This makes it tricky, because you don't want to have to explain to every user to enable the app the stay alive in the background.

We have partnered with TackleDirect now and all active subscribers should have received an April 15% off personalized discount code in your email. If you don't see it, check your spam and bulk mail folders. I believe the code was sent around April 4th and resent around April 23rd.

Not sure about the colored sufix (I assume you mean bright colors like pink or yellow)
They have the Lo-Vis green at https://www.rapala.com/sufix/braid/131-braid/sufix-131-braid-fishing-line/Sufix+131+Braid+Fishing+Line.html?brandname=sufix , which you can get with your Rapala VIP discount
It's also in stock at TackleDirect (no color listed) https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=c1UQEdGla5o&mid=38416&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tackledirect.com%2Fsufix-131-g-core-braided-fishing-line.html

It's a good question. When I was younger I played competitive golf and the prices to be competitive after a few years of green fees and equipment were actually pretty close to having a nice boat and equipment, back then people called golf a "rich man's sport". Today, I don't think it's even close, bass fishing, by far would be a rich man's sport. As a junior member, my first year might be $15,000, but after the first year initiation fee, it's probably $500/mo after that (which about the same as monthly payments on a 20 year loan at 4% on a $75k boat). Equipment isn't even close either. I can buy a nice set of clubs for what I have in my single most expensive rod/reel combo.
All that being said, if you're going to be a successful professional angler:
1. Take the Boyd Duckett approach and be a successful businessman before full-time fishing
2. Hope against all odds that the technology gets cheaper
3. Fish the collegiate level and hope you can get enough sponsorship interest to cover a lot of your outfitting costs
4. (The most important) Give it a try with the equipment you have. Invest some money in pre-fishing and fishing the Open levels to see if you like it (I did not). When I fished the Everstart trail many moons ago, I didn't know anyone. Sleeping in the (often not so great quality) hotels, hauling in/locking down all valuables every night, dealing with any mechanical/electrical issue that arose, eating cold pizza, missing family, and, in my case, also trying to do work for clients at night proved to take the excitement out of the dream of doing this professionally. Some might say this was not working hard enough, but I had no problem with the work, I wasn't compatible with life on the road away from family. Also, I didn't make a check in a single event, so I was paying to not enjoy time away from family.
5. What I do, enjoy fishing with what you can afford and pass the love on to your kids

I'm not sure I understand the question. I throw Neko rig around cover but not in it (I fish it with an exposed hook & no weed guard). Any place you can find a hard bottom is nice, the nail in the end can make some sound on the hard bottom.
Here's a nice variation on the rig https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/finesse-chicken-rig-mike-iaconelli
If you're looking to get started with the Neko rig, here's a nice video with MLF pro Adrian Avena https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/neko-rig-fishing-adrian-avena

I'll assume you're talking about on baitcasting tackle.
From our pros, I've surmised that:
Fluorocarbon is less visible, lower stretch, smaller diameter with more abrasion resistance than monofilament.
David Fritts has some interesting points about what he doesn't like about fluorocarbon, they are in one of these 2 videos:
https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/cranking-secrets-david-fritts (I believe this one)
https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/flat-side-crankbaits-with-david-fritts (possibly this one)

I don't believe so, you'll want to check the compatibility. For instance, I think Lakemaster maps are primarily for Humminbird.

June 16, 2022 10:25:41 AM

Power techniques during peak feeding hours for me. Are we talking about smallmouth or largemouth? For largemouth (which is what I have where I live), I'd probably throw a crankbait around ambush areas, maybe a buzzbait around any cover: docks with lights that are coming on, laydown trees, etc.

August 24, 2022 09:21:57 AM

I live near a clear lake where finesse tactics are dominant. I usually catch a better class of fish on soft plastic swimbaits, like the Keitech FAT swing impact, or the Megabass Magdraft. We have spotted bass as well, not sure if you have them where you are fishing. Also, where I am, fall forage is very small, so small baits still catch big fish. As Thrift recommends in his more recent video, the Damiki Vault makes a really small blade bait. The other technique that may work well for you if you are doing well on the finesse techniques you listed, is to bulk up the profile of the bait with something like a micro or finesse jig, when they skirt flairs they just have a bigger presence in the water. I hope this helps.
