28 % of fish caught in bass tournament die. If anyone keeps fish it goes higher the reason is the fish are hauled in a live well and treated like shit! What about an app on your phone so you can take a picture of the fish and let it go. Hey the three guys that caught the world record largemouth were great sportsmen they took pictures of fish to weigh fish and released it these guys should get the greatest Bass Sportsman award. That fish was worth a lot of money to Bass PRO SHOP. HEY STOP KILLING THE FISH PLEASE. I don't belong to PETA

Guys the time has come and gone to change the way we weigh fish. It now must become catch and release where the fish is caught. There are huge bass tournaments of 100 to 300 boats in one weekend and then a wildcat almost every other day. When I fish for bass I take a picture sometimes weigh big fish but always put them back where I caught them. I am not a member of PETA. Could you pros at our collage please take a look at this? I know on the pro level you do this on TV with a referee in boat.
There should be a way to do this using a cell phone the referee during the tournament would be looking at a big screen Monitor hook up to a computer with 36 picture boxes on-screen when you catch a fish you hit speed dial on phone. There may need to be more than one monitor and more than one referee. Everyone will use the same weighing app on your phone you hit speed dial the computer connects. You take a picture of the fish inside the yellow lines on the phone and it records the weight for your boat and who caught it GPS location time. What do you pros think ?? I am 70 years old and it is a very wise thing for all of us to talk to a biologist that don't have a pocketbook involved this is a real problem on a lot of lakes. The bass fish needs our help!

Thank You
Very Much

Thank You very much. My number one issue is catching bass on the bed and hauling them to weigh -in this kills the spawn. We need to weigh and release the bass as soon as we can from the boat. I know Bass Pro Shop can invest in tech to do this it would save a lot of fish . I love bass University and all the staff !

Dock fishing lights that operate auto sundown to sun up should be turned off when not being used. I avoid fishing docks during the daytime if they have a lot of lights on the water that comes on at night. I see a lot of fish suspended in front of the dock during the daytime. When you fish dock at night I fish like drop shot or jig vertical .

I have been fishing Smith Lake Alabama since 1968. The Green Algae bloom is better in the lake than it was 3 5 years ago. I have seen the bloom so bad on Smith lake Alabama in the spring it was like a small island out in the middle of the lake. I contacted the Alabama power Simson Creek lady that takes water samples 35 years ago she told me the US. department of Agriculture back then had started a program with the farmers to wait about spreading chicken liter till after the heavy winter rain. They paid the farmers to do it also build ponds to catch runoff. It has helped to reduce the algae bloom . Anytime you see green water in Smith you need to understand 50 years ago the lake was almost clear now the lake has many dead zones in it. You won't find baitfish because shad can't get enough Oxygen I have spent many hours over the years looking at dead zones. Smith does have dead zones in it cant pick up bait or fish in bright green water . These lawn care companies need to stop putting out fertilizer too early on these lake homes' yards. I have a home on Smith I never put out any fertilizer till the ground warms up to 69 degrees the grassroots have not woke up and a lot of it just runs into the lake. The green runoff on Smith was bad this year. There has been an advisory issued to not swim in lake children have had eyes and ear issues. Go to Goggle and read about the dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico 4,800 square miles and lake Erie. We must stop putting out all this fertilizer on our lawns till the ground warms up to 69 degrees you really are wasting your money. Also, these lawn care companies are trying to sell the lake homeowners all the Fertilizer they will buy. Also, be very careful spraying Roundup. around our lake Please cut back on all this fertilizer . Thanks help the dead zones in our lake .

Alabama power has a message posted on the lakeshore website for Smith Lake. Alabama power is dropping the water 14 feet starting July 1 ,2021 . The water will be at 496 feet winter pool till late November 2021 . There is NOTHING wrong with the dam they are lowering it so they can work on the powerhouse. Watch your boat dock cables the water will be at 496 feet by the end of August 2021 . The winter rains will bring it back up . Good Luck

They are lowering Smith to 496 by the end of August normal pool is 510. down 14 feet. Won't come back up till late November winter rains will fill it. There is NOTHING wrong with the dam. They are going to be working in the powerhouse.
I may be wrong but this may shutdown the boat launch at Smith Lake Park they have a Big tournament in October not sure about the launch that is 14 feet down !

The new 3-D contour maps are a big deal !!

Humminbird stopped making the auto transducer 360 for boat transom . The reason I want it on the transducer is that you can raise and lower it while the big motor is idling, with a button. You don't have to do it manually let it up and down. You can still see far enough on the front of the boat with a transducer on the back of the boat!

I installed my H wave on the transom pointing down inside the jack plate. I did not drill any hole in the jack plate or transom. They do make a transom mounting bracket. The reason I mount mine on the transom. So I can use the hydro wave without letting the trolling motor down with the big engine at idle some times I am just structure hunting if I find a spot that shows fish . I will then let my trolling motor down to fish some times the hydro wave will get the bass's attention to look maybe toward your lure.
They are trying to mount too many things on trolling motor it makes it heavy from 70 years guy .

Trolling motor weight # add 360 transducer, add the transducer that is in trolling motor foot, add the 360 unit, add a hydro wave, add a mega life front view. I am a Senior I want the 360 on the transom and the hydro wave on the rear. The reason is I want to be able to idle the big motor and search with the 360 on transom you can still see forward ahead of the boat and 360 degrees, around the boat. The man in the back of the boat gains 20 feet at the rear! So he can't complain that you on the front are getting the most forward view this is Buddy fishing also If the 360 is auto on transom you don't have to raise anything manually. This adds a lot to the term POWER fishing when the Sonar is on rear and hydro you can scout the bottom at idle . If you want to fish just cut the motor off and let your trolling motor down now if you are network with rear 360 you still control the view upfront on your other 360 unit. There are many ways to set up how you want your network this was mine.

August 7, 2021 11:16:27 AM

The 360 unit should be mounted on the rear of the boat with an auto-deploy and stow. The reason is you don't have to let trolling motor up and down you only give -up a 20 foot forward view. The man in the rear gains 20 feet to the rear you need 2 Units networked to do this for a pro - fisherman .

To much gear is being mounted on trolling motor !!

August 7, 2021 12:07:49 PM

There are some really good reasons you want to mount your 360 on Transom and auto stow and deploy it, you only use it going at 3 &4 mph. I want to be able to see 360 on the console when the big motor is idle. I don't want to have to let trolling motor down every time you can also mount the live view transducer above the 360 on the same shaft 360 is on. My hydro wave is mounted inside the jack plate so it stays in the water. I don't have to let trolling motor down . The mounting unit will mount using the Jack plate NO hole drilling you use just one hole that is in the jack plate. The unit will have a brake you can set to kick up and not damage the transducer if you bump a log . When you go to take off you just push the button on the remote and the transducers will come up and stow behind the transom. Yes, you will lose some forward view 20 foot but on 360 you will gain 20 feet on the back of the boat. Of course, all units will be networked together. I know the Pros may not like this setup but in my humble opinion for me is the best !! That's the reason I am building mine, I am NOTt going to try to market it. I am too old it is in the garage now being done so far it's going good Thanks Good Luck
