I am thinking about adding a hydrowave h2 and want to know if they really help and where would be the best location for the speaker to be mounted on the boat?

Every Pro Angler that I hire for the Bass University uses one. The most common location for the speaker is in the shaft of the top of the trolling head or on the shaft of the trolling motor.

I installed my H wave on the transom pointing down inside the jack plate. I did not drill any hole in the jack plate or transom. They do make a transom mounting bracket. The reason I mount mine on the transom. So I can use the hydro wave without letting the trolling motor down with the big engine at idle some times I am just structure hunting if I find a spot that shows fish . I will then let my trolling motor down to fish some times the hydro wave will get the bass's attention to look maybe toward your lure.
They are trying to mount too many things on trolling motor it makes it heavy from 70 years guy .

I'm ready to get one, but every time I me I go to TH marine when think of it, they are out.
However I hear the speakers go out, but main question is how do you know the speaker goes bad? Can humans hear this thing?

Yes, you can hear it when it's out of water. I always forget to pause mine when running from one location to another. You can hear it.
