Rod Selection for fishing the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida

Gene J. - graduate

Do to space issues I am limited to 5 rods on the boat (fishing out of a Bass Tracker Classic). If you were going to fish this time of year (June - August) in the Harris Chain of Lakes, what 4 or 5 rods setups would you bring with you out on the water?

It seems like a lot has changed over the past 40 plus years while I was working a lot and fishing very little! Any suggestions you can throw to this, new to Florida old guy, would be appreciated.

Many anglers attest to Florida and Florida strain bass varying greatly from other areas of the country. Here are a few seminars to get started with:

Topwater is such an important tool in Florida Gene. You are definitely gonna want to have something to throw a prop bait. Buzz frogs and holly belly frogs are also going to be a big deal. A texas rigged soft plastic is so steady in Florida. Chatterbait/spinnerbait rod will be on my deck too. Two other rods that I would have ready are a fluke and a senko. Those would be my top five. Welcome back to bass fishing and Bass U. Lilly pads are key in Florida and below is a link to a great instructional piece from JT Kenney that I'm sure will be of use for you.

Thank you so much. I just watched JT's video and I definitely got some ideas from it.

BTW, I really liked the ability to download the slides so I could stop the video and look at the specific slide!
