Ready to start your bass fishing tournament career? Many current-day Bassmaster Elite and Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour anglers started as a co-angler (or non-boater) fishing from the back of the boat.

A co-angler is someone who is paired with a boater (pro angler) and competes with other co-anglers (they are not competing with their boater). Co-anglers bring their own rods, reels, and tackle, but they share the boater's fishing spots, as they do not control the boat. It’s a great way to learn, gain experience, and compete without needing a boat.

Bethel Alum Niko Romero, our guest today, is a Bassmaster co-angler who has gained attention for his appearance in the High School Classic & his recent success in the co-angler division of tournaments, including his 2024 win on Logan Martin. Romero joins Bass University live to spill the juice on how to become a successful co angler in the new age of electronics. Niko is a Bassmaster Open Champion and COY.
