Lake Murray - Blue Herring - Summer
I am having the hardest time finding Bass on Lake Murray, SC that are willing to bite a lure. I can find the blue herring all balled up on the sonar but getting the fish to bite seems to be impossible.
Matthew, this is a fairly geographic-specific question, so it may take some time to get a response. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer, but I do know there are some herring seminars and Matt Becker talks specifically about Murray in his Winner's Circle video at https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/lake-murray-champion-matt-becker-winners-circle . Brandon Cobb talks about seasonal blueback herring in https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/best-blueback-herring-lake-seasonal-fishing-strategies-brandon-cobb and Casey Ashley talks about suspended bass and herring in https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/blueback-herring-suspended-bass-fishing-casey-ashley
Hard to beat a chrome topwater like an Ima Skimmer or Ima Little Stik fished over the cane piles all day long. It's a rough day of fishing, but it'll normally call up 5 good ones. Lots of guys will also fish dropshots and shakey heads around the deep cane piles to catch fish, but they tend to be in the smaller size.
