Flotation Pods

Does anyone use flotation pods on their bass boats? I have a new Bass Tracker 195 TXW w/ a 150 Mercury Four Stroke plus batteries and I'm getting a lot of backsplash over the transom. I'm looking to add a jack plate and a set of Talon Shallow Water Anchors and I'm concerned that these additions will make the backsplash issue even worse.

If flotation pods are not the answer, does anyone have suggestions for minimizing the backsplash issue? I'm hoping that a different boat is not the solution since I'm sure my wife would not see the humor in that!

In case anyone else was wondering...

Talked with a local FLW Pro and he said that he would not recommend adding pods to a bass boat. He suggested moving my two trolling motor batteries to the front storage compartment should help rebalance the boat after the Talon's are added. I also discussed this with the folks from Tracker Marine and they agreed with the solution.

Agreed, I had a 17.5' Tracker for years and balance can be tricky in an aluminum boat. If you've got the $, you can get a lithium batteries, which have other advantages, besides less weight. I would also try to get all my heavy/dense tackle upfront and store lighter items like hard plastic baits/topwaters/spinnerbaits under the seats or in the back storage. If your model comes with a front livewell/baitwell (which ours did, and we never used as a livewell) you can fill this with ice and put your drinks in there.

Thanks Jason. I do plan to move to lithium batteries but I hope to get a couple of years out of the ones currently in the boat. I had not thought about the weight of tackle. I now have moved all the "heavy" tackle stuff forward in the boat.

Thanks again!
