Baitcasting Finesse, Its tuned bait casters for micro hard baits and soft baits.
I use an 1st Gen Megabass Destroyer Speed tip custom 6'1 Rated 1/16-1/2 oz with a super tuned Daiwa Alphas sv105 with a shallow spool and 10lb braid. I Mostly fish it with small hardbaits like Lc pointer 65, Gan craft jointed claw 70 and Micro Finess jigs. I also use it for blade baits in the winter which makes it a ton of fun.
I buy bulk Florocarbon spool and see no deterioration in the quality even after a handful of years, I can typically get nearly 3 years out of the line on the reel spool itself.
I think UV light and dry heat does more to damage line than anything else. I store everything in a giant plastic bin and that keeps them protected for along time.
Grew up in Dana Point but live in the Northeast now. Used to Fish DVL, Perris, Casitas, and Castaic, and sometimes Cuyamaca. I miss home but return every so often to fish.
The fish see better at night than we see during the day.
I fish almost entirely at night due to my work schedule.
Color is not entirely that important for night fishing from my personal experience. Instead of thinking in terms of Night vs. Day, think about in terms of how much moon light you have or don't have. Thats where I've seen color make a difference. Black is considered a good color at night because it showcases the silhouette of the bait better, but this can be achieved with any solid-colored bait. I've done well on all chartreuse, all pink and bone at night. As far as the difference between a glossed black vs a mat black, I prefer the mat black for daytime for many techniques.
