Full Screen BassU App Issues

zmanfishing - graduate

When I play a video on full screen, it doesn't fully go full screen. I am using an Android and after some time, the screen auto-shuts off, interrupting my video. Is there a setting that I missed somewhere? I do not have the same issue with YouTube or other streaming apps.

Same issue for me

The screen timeout is probably a setting on your phone. Perhaps some battery saver mode. I have my Android phone set to turn off after 60 seconds of inactivity, but it doesn't turn off if I'm watching a video or live stream. I do know that my phone has "power saver" and "ultra battery saver" modes, which may cause issues that like.

When you say that the video doesn't go full screen, can you describe further? On my phone, if I go full screen, but I have auto-rotate turned off, it will go "full screen" from left to right, but stays in portrait mode (vertical with big empty spaces above and below the video). If I have auto-rotate on, I can turn the phone sideways, then it's full screen.

I turned my battery mode to "High Performance" = No battery saving, and am still having the issue. When I auto-rotate my phone, the bottom "Menu Buttons" or "Navigation Bar" is still visible unlike with YouTube where going full screen it becomes hidden. My status bar on the top of my screen also remains "on-screen". After a short time, the screen darkens and eventually the display turns off. I have all permissions turned on and removed it from my "Optimized Apps" list. I am using app version 1.0.1 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with Android 9.

zmanfishing, thank you for your reply. I don't have that particular device at my disposal, but I'll see if I can run some tests with Android 9, but I currently only have version 7 and version 10 available to me. It occurs to me, since you mentioned the Galaxy, Samsung is one of the few companies still shipping their own browser with their phones. Are you using the pre-installed Samsung Internet Browser? If so, please install Chrome from the app store and see if this resolves the issue.

Using Chrome seems to work no problem! I was using the BassU App while experiencing the timeout issue.

Oh, I failed to put all this together. Some parts of the app are rendered through the phones default browser. I speculate that it's using the Samsung browser, but I'm not really sure how to resolve that. These directions may help resolve this issue, please try this and let me know if it fixes the problem.

It appears that Chrome is my default browser. For now I will continue using the actual Chrome browser instead of the app to view the videos.

I am wondering if this has been looked into further. It makes the app a bit pointless if we have to use Chrome to access the content on our phones.

Are you using the "full screen" button at the bottom of the video player to go full screen? In the video player, there's a button that looks like 4 arrows pointing out diagonally (next to the "gear" settings icon). If I use this button in the app, I get a the correct full screen experience. Please let me know.

@jason yes I use that button, the full screen part works fine I just have the issue where the screen wants to go to sleep. It's as if the Android system is not recognizing that video is playing as it does with other video services. I am using a Samsung Note 10 if that helps any.

I'm not sure why it seems like only Samsung has this issue. I did have this problem with my stock trading app though, so I just set the screen timeout to an hour. I checked, and, at least when the phone initially launched, the maximum timeout is 10 minutes. While searching I also came across this feature that may help, which keeps the phone on while you're looking at it, perhaps that will help:

That feature is cool but for me I have it on sometimes and I am not looking at it, I am listening to the verbal golden nuggets of info and when it times out it stops delivering the goodness! LOL
