Rods a long winded neat story

Rods... Give me your best answer to my argument or my buddies argument.

About me: Most of my fishing buddies
Either moved away or i moved from them or they get married or have pile kids and simply no longer fish.
Then I answer an online ad and buy 2 g loomis rods from this guy who now we talk everyday about fishing. And i bought 2 more loomis rods new... But yet to get into NRX rods. I have 30 plus rods high end to mid end rods reels.
I OFF TOP HEAD will say my most expensive combo or combos could run say 450.

About friend : He sold me the 2 loomis rods which got me hooked on loomis.
He is not new to fishing but kinda new to bass fishing. He fishes super high end stuff... Only Loomis Nrx or Conquest with big dollar reels.
typical combo for him is like 1k without a deal.

Now we talk everyday fishing and often a gentlmans argument.
He keeps pushing his NRX Loomis on me... Ahh you need this I can feel a blade of grass and tell when its on my hook. In fairness i could afford a loomis NRX... But my arguments to him
Is id break it leaving house to truck or in truck and id scream. My second argument is i have a tournament mindset when i fish... I dont get to fish as often as i would if not married lol

His argument is if i sold some of my stuff and had less stuff i could be like him... He says im a quanity guy where he is a quality guy. He has maybe 6 nrx and now only 1 Conquest.
So i have a bassboat and just purchased a new plastic bass boat to fish my private HOA lake. So i know he mostly fishes spinning rods so i only brought spinning gear and invited him to fish with me the very first time i put little boat on my lake... So we on equal grounds... I know zip about my lake and not have the depth finder on boat yet.

I out fished him big time.
we still argue but my point to him is i want active fish i dont want the fish that barley taps bait.... He claims he can feel that bite of those finicky fish... I said were in arizona the sun comes up fast i want to move along.
I noticed now he buying other rods... But he wont admit it to me.

Whats your take

Fyi I love high end gear love loomis
But my mindset is i could buy more gear for price of one NRX
He says the opposite.

Some rods are easy to get right, meat and potatoes type rods. I have an old Bass Pro shops Zylon 6'6" that's great for topwater fishing and any small bait that I want to make precision casts with. I think I paid $50 for that rod. Great action, and soft tip, I'm not sure I've ever lost a fish with that rod and treble hooks. On the other hand, there are techniques that I love that I do feel like I get better results with a high-end rod, and since I use them a lot, I pay more $ for them. I personally like St. Croix rods and recently have started giving Cashion a try.

At the end of the day it’s not about money spent on tackle, it’s confidence gained. I own some high end stuff, but for instance my favorite lipless crank rod is a 7’ Tournament Choice that you can buy at academy for literally $12. I get made fun of for it a lot from co-anglers but it’s the bees knees for trapping because the action of it suits my style of fishing.
