Urban Fishing in Arizona during the summer

Slush91 - sophomore

Hi! I am new to Bass U and I have been trying to bass fish a lot more! Used to a little when I was little with my father out here in Arizona (Phoenix) on our boat but during my teens I fished more for cat fish cause it was cheaper lol and I still have fun doing it! But now I have the means to buy quality equipment and baits! I have been fishing usually a Texas rig mostly senko and ribbon worms and some grubs and some square bill crank baits with not much luck. Alot of these lakes and ponds I fished for cat growing up and I have never really seen bass fisherman there and rarely seen them caught I have caught a few but not a lot not like I would want(maybe there just isn’t any bass in these ponds?) a couple but not like I would like to. I plan on watching the beginners 101 video on bank fishing a pond. But does anyone have any suggestions of what might work in 105+ weather? (Bait, certain rigs) trying to stay positive and confident!

Thanks everyone

DENNIS

In really hot weather like you describe, I would try to find something deep, or any place where cooler water runs in. If the water is clear I would certainly try a dropshot or shakey head, here's a good seminar to check out. https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/dropshot-vs-shaky-head-john-crews

Welcome to Bass U! I have fished a little bit in Arizona and Nevada on Lake Havasu and Lake Mead. When the water temps get hot, I really like to use topwater baits too. Fish get kind of weird when the water hits 90 degrees or more. Its often long casts with a topwater water lure that helps me connect with the bass. Here is a great seminar about topwater fishing from one of the best. Good luck! https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/bryan-thrifts-top-5-topwater-bass-fishing-techniques
