Composite Rods
I need to find out who makes good composite rods. I usually would use the KVD from Quantum but seeing that he will no longer be using their products I need to figure out who to switch to, any suggestions?
I would bet that KVD will have a hand in designing some cranking rods for Lew's pretty soon. If you want a Lew's, the David Fritts rods are composite, so that's an option. I do my cranking with several Daiwa glass rods, from an old green TD-S to the new Tatulas. The Takahiro Omori glass rod may be my all time favorite.
Thanks for that information do you know anybody else besides lew's?
I don't know what happened to American Rodsmiths, I guess they folded or got bought out. They made some good glass rods at a reasonable price. I guess some of my rods are older than I thought, since I can't find any information newer than 2010 about them. Their website domain now auto-forwards to Castaway Rods, no idea if they have the same rod making process in place.
I have a david fritts lews crankin rod for med to big plugs... Super in expensive like79 bucks.
Not sure if they make one with skinnier handle. Only thing I dislike is the fat handle.
I also crank small square bills with an avid x st croix.
and use some shimano rods too
Next i really love the g loomis e6x
I have 2 of those for cranking... Super light... Comfy thin handles.
Jondoe67, Fritts must like fat handles, as they are on the rods I have as well.
Just learned of new brand. Called “Old18”
Check them out.
honestly, the dobyns champion xp glass cb rods are really standing the test of time. also some of the most versatle rods in my lineup. theyre not just for cranking (although they shine in that area) but take for instance the 736 is an amazing bladed jig rod, and the 735 is a killer spinnerbait rod. lets em take it, but has the backbone to pull em through a mat. what were you lookin for in composite rods?
