Auto inflated is fine if you pass out before you hit the water, but its difficult to swim with the inflated bladders up around your neck. I prefer a manual inflation type.

I prefer the fg knot to attach leaders in both freshwater and salt. It takes some practice but provides a thin secure knot with multiple half hitches added, protects the knot when winding back thru your guides.

I skip jigs all the time with a spinning rod. It's a hell of a lot easier.
