Life Vest

fmonster - graduate

Ok, I have been gone from the sport for 15 years. I just retired and have an Xpress boat ordered when it hit me. I don't have a life vest anymore. I used to have one of the early versions of the inflatables.

So, I would like to stay inflatable if possible especially since I will be fishing in Florida almost exclusively. I weigh about 260 lbs. What are my options? What do you all use? Am I stupid for wanting inflatables still? Something better on the market?

Please help!

Also, sure would be nice to have a search feature on these forums! :)

Auto inflated is fine if you pass out before you hit the water, but its difficult to swim with the inflated bladders up around your neck. I prefer a manual inflation type.

I wear an Onyx inflatable life jacket, not as nice as Mustang ... also much cheaper and I am a similar size.

I've been using Mustang Survival for a long time.
John Crews always using a standard life jacket for operating a high-performance bass boat.  https://bassu.tv/bass-fishing-video/driving-a-bass-boat-safely-efficiently-john-crews.  He feels more secure with this style.

Congrats on your new boat and good luck!!!
