“Black Death” Grass

I fish a few areas here in Virginia around the Chickahominy that has the “Black Death” grass that I hear y’all talk about sometimes. Do y’all have any advice on how to fish it/around it? Weedless presentations reduce its effect but don’t eliminate it. Whenever it bogs down any baits it kills my confidence that I’m going to get bit. Should I try to avoid this grass? Should I avoid using any bottom contact baits? Thanks for any advice!
