Fishing line storage

How long can you store mono and fluorocarbon ? I keep it in consistent temperature and it's not exposed to any type of light. Will it eventually degrade some how, even though it's never been spooled on a reel? Some of it is 3 or 4 years old.

I remember reading a Stren rep saying under the conditions you mentioned that it's a very long time- almost unlimited. I would spoilt up and keep an eye on it. (just like any other line)

I agree with Doug. Unspooled / unexposed and you'll be fine. Spooled is a different story being that memory will cause issues.

If it’s still on the roll throw your rolls in bread boxes or smaller ice chests. Great for keeping them sealed off from changing temperatures and air moisture
