I have enjoyed so many aspects of Bass University that I can not list them all. And, I can't say which is my favorite. As a fan of bass fishing, you get to know the personalities of the pros. That's pretty cool. As a fisherman, you can not find more concentrated, useful and detailed information. Bass University has vastly improved my skills as an angler faster than any other method out there. Thanks guys for all the work putting it together.
Is there a way to download seminars so we can watch them while not in cell or wi-fi coverage?
Use versatile lures that you can throw a good distance. You do not control boat position. And, you need to fish where your boater has not or provoke a fish that he did not. You can not do well making the same cast he has with the same lure with the same retrieve. So, keep one eye on where he cast and either fish a different lure or different retrieve. I like to downsize and fish slower or a different zone than my boater if possible. Texas rigs are awesome for every variable I've mentioned.
To prevent catastrophic backlashes, use painters tape on your spool. Cast out normally about how far you want to practice and pull out an extra 10 foot or so, wrap an inch or 2 strip of painters tape over your line on the spool. Your backlashes will only go this deep now. The painters tape leaves no residue on your line and can be removed or adjusted at any time.
I remember reading a Stren rep saying under the conditions you mentioned that it's a very long time- almost unlimited. I would spoilt up and keep an eye on it. (just like any other line)
Another possibility to think about is your hook wire size. I pour my own football head jigs and use a fine wire hook to make it easier for the hook to penetrate. (Daichi Jimmy Houston hook sized to the trailer)
There is 360 and new Mega 360 that won ICAST last year. 360 MEGA is not shipping yet and is delayed for an undisclosed reason. So If nobody has one yet, there won't be any info out there. You should go to Humminbird's web-site and call their customer service (they are really good) directly with your exact question.
You buy the Transducer, and mount it to a trolling motor, The Sonar unit that you use will have to be one of these and I copied this from the Humminbird website: "Directly compatible with HELIX G3N models with MEGA Side Imaging+ or MEGA Down Imaging+, and all SOLIX G2 models" As far as the trolling motor goes " Fortrex® MEGA 360 is compatible with both Minn Kota Fortrex and Maxxum® trolling motors." and of course there is one for the Minn Kota Ultrex. So those are facts and my next statement is a guess since they have a universal mount for putting it anywhere on your boat. I guess the mount is the difference. The only issue will be getting it to mount up on a different trolling motor so it doesn't interfere with the stowing and unstowing.
Oh and they are starting shipping the MEGA 360 now.
