What rain gear are you using?
What extreme weather rain gear is everyone wearing these days? I have always wanted a set of the 200mph Gore-Tex bibs and jacket, but it's looking like they are being phased out. I have Frogg Toggs for hot weather or a quick rain shower, but I need something for those all day long deals. Thanks.
Last year I invested in a set of Blackfish gear. I got caught in some NASTY weather last year as well as a couple all day events and I stayed totally dry.
I only got their "lower" end and it's been awesome! I would highly recommend it!
If you are a BASS member, check your state, ours has some sweet discounts. I got 40% off my rain gear this way.
DieselDood, thanks a lot for the reply! Good timing since I am thinking about ordering something today. Their higher end suit is a little tough to justify, but the less expensive one at $199 for the jacket and the same price for the bibs seems like a fair deal if they work well. Does that suit cut the wind at all in the cold weather? Obviously you have to layer up...
Yes it cuts the wind well.
I will throw mine on for blast off on the cool mornings and it definitely helps cut the wind on the long runs.
If you are going out in the REAL cold.. I'd layer up for sure, as it is thin and really designed for summer use.
Honestly when it's open water cold (40s) ill pull out my Striker Ice gear.... but thats a different subject! Lol
That makes sense. I'm in NC so it is only *really* cold for a short time most years. Striker makes some awesome looking stuff, I have been checking them out for a bit.
You should be good then!
My striker bibs are crazy warm, and waterproof. But they are designed for ice fishing.
I had read that they were venturing into other products, but I haven't seen any in person yet
If your trying to stay on a budget look into some of the Military surplus stores, you’ll find Gortex bottoms and tops at a fairly reasonable price. For cold days layer up , and include a Woolly Pulley. If the Gortex is a bit old you can go to most sporting good stores and find some water proofing sprays for athletic clothes or tents and do a touch up. You can find Gortex socks as well unless your boots are waterproof. Hope that helps.

I used the Bass Pro 100MPH stuff for years with no issues. I was very pleased with it. As I get older, I'm more of a fair weather fisherman.
