What color swimjig/bladed jig on a shad lake under cloudy conditions?
Do you stick with a shad colored swimjig on a heavy shad lake even when it is very cloudy or do you go to black/blue? What kind of results have you had with this in the past?
Thanks.
Any thoughts on this?
Hey Paul... man, that can be a tricky question. Depending on water clarity, for me, I would start off with a shad colored swimjig/bladed jig. If I feel that I wasn't getting many bites, or the bass were just swiping at the bait, then I would try the black/blue. With that said, I've done just the opposite, started with black/blue swimjigs and bladed jigs, and then switched to the shad colored baits. Not to be cliche-ish, but I try to let the fish tell me what they want.
No matter the lake I stick with three colors with my swim jig. Shad, green pumpkin and black/blue. If the shad are present I'll usually start with that color. I'll use the green pumpkin around the spawn and Black/blue in low lite or stained water situations. Great bait for not only numbers but big fish.
