Topic: Deep Laydowns

A pond I frequently fish has steep banks, quickly dropping down to 12-18 ft. A large section of this pond has laydowns due to beaver issues that come out into that deep water. I have yet to find a way to cover water in this situation to find them. The ends of the trees are coming up to 2-3 ft below the surface but in 15+ft of water. Next to impossible to get to the bank due to the number of downed trees, plus its only suitable for a squarebill or spinnerbait for a few feet off shoreline before dropping off. Normally I just have to flip these deep laydowns with a heavy jig which can be time consuming and frustrating when fruitless. Any suggestions on ways to cover this water more efficiently. Thanks

Almost every video you watch, if someone is going over the topic of a tough bite or pressured lake the suggestion is to go to something more subtle, less aggressive (I’m thinking along the lines of Texas rigs and jig trailers) to get more bites. Why not just start with subtle? You would think if it’s getting those tough fish to bite, it would get aggressive fish all the same.

What’s the advantage of big aggressive flapping appendages? Taking out the obvious answer of water color.
