Greg DiPalma/GDP : Fishing Forum Posts

Hey guy's, Greg DiPalma here. I just wanted to put a post out there for anyone with questions on their Humminbird units whether it’s a Helix, Solix or a 360 product. Feel free to ask me any questions you guys have!

Jondoe67, as far as seeing the same shot or the same view on your side imaging you saw earlier in the day. You’ll basically have to have the same exact trail you had earlier in the day to see the exact same shot. Backing up waypoints is very easy. All you need is a blank SD card. A 1 or 2 gig is plenty. Click on your menu button. Go to charts scroll down and hit (waypoints routes and trails) from there put your blank SD card in one of the empty slots on your unit. Take all map cards out on a helix. Click export (waypoints routes and trails). And you’ll be backed up.

Hey Jason, G2N and G3N will network together and share everything as long as all the software is up to date and the same.

Well generally a 5/8 spinner bait comes stock with a number 6 willow on the bottom and a number 3.1/2 or 4 up top. Down sizing the blades won’t mess with the action of how it runs it’ll only take away the vibrations it puts off. Fishing in 20 ft of water would definitely call for a blade change or a super slow presentation on a 5/8 spinnerbait to keep it down that deep. Maybe going to a 3/4 or 1oz spinnerbait would be a better bet. There’s also a spinner bait out there called a Rocket Shad from StrikeKing that works really good for me with deeper depths. It’s only a 1/4 oz bait but it has a very compact design to get you down deep quickly. Hope that helps!

If I had to pick one....hands down I’ve caught more fish on a War-Eagle Spinner Bait then any other out there.

Hi prefer a double bladed Colorado in muddy water. Depending on how it’s set up. You’ll have more vibration, noise, and flash with the double.

When’s the last time you did a update? Every unit need to have the same software and up to date.

Just to make sure and rule this out I would go into each unit. Go to system status at the top and check and make sure ever unit has the same version software. Also check and see if the software is 2.180. That’s the most up to date.

Ok, get it up to date and then will see if the issue continues... ttys

Kyle,
Same card will do all your units. No need to go back to your computer after you have done the update download. They recommend taking out any other cards in other slots during a update tho. Map cards, waypoint cards, etc....

A lot depends solely on what you’re looking for. If your in shallow water or long distance graphing in deeper water 455 is the right choice. Mega stands out when looking for detail. For example. If I’m graphing for fish mega is the clear choice. When you need detail go to mega. When your looking for brush piles, rock or structure 455 is key. Not as much detail but more power to shoot further… hope that helps you better understand.

The Transom mounted transducer is only for low speeds. If your looking for readout at high speeds you’ll need to install a thru hull transducer. No one makes a high speed transducer for SI or DI. The thru hull however will give you 2d readout at high speeds. (bottom composition and depth). You’ll also need a Y-cable so you can tie the two transducers together unless your running it to multiple graphs.
