In my lay of the land we have hard water! This time of the year has me thinking on how I can start to prepare for 2019.

I’m doing a lot of inventory and organizing of my tackle. What kind of things are you guys doing? Let’s hear it!

I'm organizing my garage, installing shelving and peg boards. Putting in some cushion flooring and a work bench. Redoing my tackle storage system in my boat. Converting everything over to Flambeau. Won't be long and the ice will be gone and I won't have any time to do this kind of stuff. Hope I can get it all done by Spring. We need to head south for a few weeks Rich and hang out with Hillbilly in Texas.

Winter is the time of year that I look over my tackle and boating gear - clean and inspect rods, reels. I clean the rod blank and cork, inspect the line guides for cracks, insect the reel seats and handle section for defects. The reels will get inspected for defects, cleaned and re-lubed. Some reels might get totally broken-down for a thorough cleaning and re-lubed. I inventory baits for restocking or for selling. Inspect boat, trailer and accessories for defects - repair or have repaired. Inspect safety items, such as PFD's to ensure compliance. I also practice some of my pitching and flipping skills either outside or in the house. . . I need to be cautious in the house however, as the wife's plants will take a beating from the 1/2 oz. jig.... haha!
