Shallow water anchors
What is the best shallow water anchor.? What is best length? Thanks!
Hey Bob, I use two Power Poles 8' for my 20' Basscat. I chose the Power Pole because of the way the they deploy. They reach out and that does two things for me. The first thing is that in shallow water they offer a wide stance which makes the boat very stable. The ten foot poles offer even better holding power when shallow. I prefer the 8 foot anchors because they are easier to manage when I have to get under overhanging trees or bridges. I also like the fact that they can reach out when 50% deployed and protect the rear of the boat from rocks or other hazardous bank or bottom structure. Can't tell how many times they have saved me from fiberglass damage.

Do you find yourself adding hydraulic fluid a lot? i have a detweiler hydraulic jack plate on my Boat and i have added fluid only a couple times in the 16 years i ve owned the boat.. wondering if your experience is the same? Thanks again!
Maintenance has not been a problem for me with my poles. I have never had to add fluid to my poles that are now five years old.
The shallow water anchor debate is one of the most popular debates in bass fishing since their inception. They both essentially do the same thing, but everyone has a preference. From a professional perspective, how much choice to anglers have in their equipment with outfitting their boats? Are there pro's who are stuck with Talons when they would prefer Power Poles, or Lowrance when they would rather run 'Birds, etc. or is it up to the pro's how they rig their boats?
Great point Nitro. My goal with sponsorship is to promote products that I truly believe in. There are times that pros are forced to use products from certain companies due to contract obligations. I can tell you this, If there is something out there that will help me win a tournament, I'm using that product.
