Cold Front Prespawn Scenario on New Lake

Daniel C Iacch - graduate

Any Help Appreciated. : Tomorrow I am headed to Newton Lake in Central IL, and have never been there. It is a man made cooling lake with lots of points, pockets, and a well defined creek channel, and a robust shad population. We are in the middle of a cold front. My thoughts were to start in the backs of creeks deep in the spawning pockets, and work my way to secondary structures and points and then to the main points and creek channel(s). Can anyone with experience confirm this starter-plan as what they would do?

I hope your tournament went well Daniel. This is not a bad strategy for this time of year. Keep moving toward the main lake and creek channels and this will give you best chance of finding the fish. Bait is key. Cold fronts will often concentrate the bait and bass this time of year. jerkbaits, lippless cranks and alabama rigs are my first choice.
