FG is a little slow to tie, but goes through the guides better than anything else. My least fav to tie but my fav to ish with by far.

Depends on the line, not just style but brand.

Fresh is obviously better, but braid can last almost forever. Mono, big game years but lines like XL/XT age quicker. If you are just fun fishing check them for stiffness and getting chaulky etc. If you are worried for tournament use, well you have your answer.
