Personally, I leave the snap at home and tie a loop knot, it gives you a little better action, and it ain't gonna unsnap when you have a fish of a lifetime on.

Topic: suspendots

alright guys, time to spill the beans on suspendots! WHEN you use them, WHY you're using them! I want some dirty little secrets! Nobody ever goes into detail about why they are using them, when they do it, or anything, they just say they like to "play with them"

I will give you my own: use 4 suspendots on a Rapala shadow rap deep, slow sinking jerkbait, 2 under the belly treble and two under the throat. The lure will sink like a slow motion lipless crank bait, once on the bottom, pull your rod up once like you are jigging a spoon off the bottom, then pause, and give it two jerkbait jerks in the 4:00 to 11:00 direction, then let it sink back down. 9 out of 10 times it ain't gonna go back down! I caught probably around 500 bass this past summer in the midwest with this bait rigged like this! (A LOT of walleyes when I targeted them as well)-- This works as an ice fishing lure as well

when i say jig it like a spoon off the bottom, i mean grab the rod in front of your reel on the blank and give it one quick hard yank off the bottom, then a 1 second pause to let it roll and flutter and come back straight, then two jerkbait jerks in a slight upward angle to make it dance back and forth. This works WAY better than any lipless i have ever thrown! If you want it two sink a little quicker, just add more dots.
