Professional Fish Head : Fishing Forum Posts

Hey everybody, I also wanted to introduce myself. My name is Justin and thanks to Mike & Pete, I carry the title of Professional Fish Head here at Bass U. I love my job! I've always been a fish head, obsessed with being up on every bass fishing tactic and technique being used in the entire world. Part of my job includes managing the content topics for the seminar and on-water videos that we produce. If you know anything about me, please know that I am an ambassador for Bass U TV subscribers in that I want to hear from you about our products. Is there something we don't have that you want? Are there topics we have that you want more of? I'd love to hear from you!

I purchased the Abu Garcis Revo X and the Revo X spinning reel this year. They are $99.99. Through one season, I have liked them a lot. Get good casting distance and the drag has stood up to some pretty good tests. What's up Rich! Got to get out last weekend and it was pretty good. Caught about 25 but of course lost the biggest bite of the day on a buzzbait. She was a 6-7 easy and the bite was explosive. Couldn't turn her. Pulled off after making sure she showed me how big she was. Oh well can't complain about a good numbers day this time of year!

Those winter series sound fun! I love a good grinder.

Doug,
As of now we don't have a way to download seminars. I will bring it up on our next weekly call though to get a better answer on why for you. Thanks for the feedback!

Let us know what you like to catch them on this time of year! Let me know where you're from too.

I live in GA and I love to catch them on a spinnerbait this time of year. One I have really liked lately is the Molix Water Slash with double indiana blades. It's compact and comes through hard cover really well. I can't remember if it was a seminar or on-water video, but one thing I picked up from Ike was when the water cools this time of year keep the bait on the bottom during your retrieve. He suggested going with a heavier size if you want to keep it moving or even letting it fall to the bottom and slowly dragging it like a tx rig or jig. I've experienced a lot of success with that!

Try these videos, I think they will help. And be on the lookout for more on-water from Swindle that will no doubt be helpful for that time of year as well. Good luck!

I still use monofilament and co-polymer! I like Berkley Big Game and P-Line CXX. I only use it on small topwaters like poppers(15-17#), spinnerbaits (20#) and big swimbaits (25#). Every now and then when I'm cranking around abrasive cover, I will use 10# mono as well. That may sound like I use it a lot, but for my fishing those situations only make up for 5% of how I fish throughout the year. How do you use mono?
