Hello All, I have a question about bass boat driving/trim levels. First time boat owner, I know that after you get on plane, you start trimming up a little at a time until your rooster tail is even with the top of your motor. I also know if you trim too high, the boat will start porpoising. Recently I went out on my local lake with 1-2' chop and had to keep the trim all the way down to run smoothly. Trimming up resulted in porposing. I was never able to get my rooster tail even close to the halfway point on the engine. So my question is, was it the chop that was causing my boat to do that when I trimmed up? Should I have trimmed up further to "skip" across the chop? Thanks in advance.

Just as a follow up to my original post and now having had more drive time, I figured out what my issue was. I was trimming up too much for the speed I was going. Once I increased my speed, the 1-2 foot chop became very smooth, with no porposing and was able to trim appropriately.
